This year, I had the opportunity to attend the SRS Trade Show in Philadelphia, hosted by SRS Distributors. With more than 70 vendors under one roof, the event brought together manufacturers, suppliers, and contractors. New products, emerging technologies, and forward-thinking solutions were on full display, each providing insight into the future of construction and custom home builds.
Events like this do more than just exhibit. They invest in staying current, competitive, and committed to excellence.
Why Industry Events Matter for Custom Builders
What stood out most wasn’t just the scale of the event; it was the access.
Speaking directly with manufacturers, industry partners, and knowledgeable sales representatives opened space for meaningful conversations about where our industry is headed and how we can continue improving the way we build. It’s one thing to read about a product online. It’s another to see it demonstrated in person and have a direct conversation with the people behind it.
These interactions help us make smarter, more informed decisions for our projects and our clients.
Projects That Caught Our Attention
Bellara Steel Siding
One standout was steel siding from Bellara Siding. Their materials deliver durability, clean design, and long-term performance; all critical factors in exterior construction.
Steel siding continues to gain popularity for its sustainability, strength, and modern aesthetic. Seeing the product up close reinforced its ability to elevate both performance and curb appeal in residential and specialty builds.

Starlight Skylights
Another impressive product was from Starlight Skylights. Their models achieve superior thermal performance without the need for fall guards, helping reduce overall costs while maintaining curb appeal and energy efficiency.
For homeowners and builders looking to maximize natural light without sacrificing insulation or safety, innovations like this are worth watching.

Bulldog Elastomeric Coating
I also spoke with a representative from MPC Group, who demonstrated an elastomeric rubberized coating available in smooth or granular finishes and a wide range of colors.
The demo was simple but powerful: a cardboard box holding water without leaking. When a cardboard box holds water, you know it’s legit.
This product’s durability, flexibility, and waterproof performance make it an exciting option, especially as we explore its potential use on a container pool project at one of our Airbnb properties.

Ultimately, seeing innovative materials like these in person pushes us to think more creatively about how to enhance both performance and design across our builds.
Continuous Improvement in Action
Attending the SRS Trade Show reinforced one of our core values: continuous improvement.
We constantly seek better, newer, and more efficient ways of doing things, whether through materials, processes, or partnerships. Staying current and cutting-edge isn’t about chasing trends. It’s about delivering:
- Higher performance
- Greater durability
- Improved efficiency
- Elevated design
- Stronger long-term value for clients
At QnC Construction, we strive to exceed industry standards and deliver craftsmanship that surpasses expectations.
Looking Ahead
Looking ahead, one of my personal goals is to attend the International Builders’ Show in the future. Events like these aren’t just about products; they’re about relationships, learning, and pushing ourselves to be better.
The construction industry is constantly evolving with innovative building materials. Staying connected ensures we evolve with it.
Because at the end of the day, the better informed we are, the better we can build.
